ABOUT US

Established in 1995 by Nick Sacoulas, Progressive Martial Arts has developed into one of the premier martial arts schools serving the NY Metropolitan area. This university-type setting offers COMPLETE programs in Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do,  Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu,  and Filipino Kali with over 70 CLASSES PER WEEK!

Alongside their learning of the martial arts, students of PMA also gain self-confidence, self-discipline, healthier lifestyles and effective self-defense skills as a result of their training.

ADULT PROGRAM

Students can enter the school in a variety of ways. They can specialize in one discipline or cross-train in multiple arts offered within the school. Each art is a program within itself, where a student can be taken from beginner to the most advanced levels. We also offer students the opportunity to cross train, which allows them to become proficient in multiple areas and in all ranges. We welcome beginners as well as advanced students and our classes are structured in ways to cater to each type. Whether you’re coming in to attain fitness, self-discipline, confidence, for competition or to learn a specific martial art, we have the right program for you.

YOUTH PROGRAM

PMA Youth Program offers an age-specific program, starting at age 3. As an age-specific program, classes are divided into age groups that meet each child’s developmental, physical, social and emotional needs. Children ages 3 and 4 years old are taught fundamental skills such as listening, structure, discipline, balance, strength, and coordination. At 5 and 6, the youth then further develop their skill set to include increased focus, self-awareness, leadership skills, confidence, and self-defense. At 7 – 9 years of age, students are increasing their self-defense skills, physical fitness capabilities, and confidence making them bully proof for their middle school years. And at 10 – 15 years of age, students are being molded into the leaders of communities while engaging in a full mixed martial arts curriculum.

Our character development program, developed by leading child development psychologist and expert, Dr. Robyn Silverman, is the backbone of our youth program and a necessary backdrop for teaching children discipline, respect, confidence, and leadership.
